Assistant Finance Manager

 

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1.    BASIC FUNCTION:

Give a summary statement of the principal end result expected of the position.

 

Be a key contributor to the establishment and maintenance of an efficient planning, reporting and analysis system to generate timely, accurate, and reliable information and to provide high quality business and financial management analysis for China Management especially West Of China management’s decision making.

-- China FD, China Controller, Senior Planning and Analysis Manager

Internal     WOC sales team

         National S&M teams, Operation team

         National Accounting Team

         National Internal control team

 

External    WOC Local Tax Bureaus

         WOC Distributors and Other trade partners

 

3.                                                                                                         RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:     

Describe important specific results that incumbent and subordinates are expected to achieve.  Describe types of policies, "philosophy, and procedures incumbent recommends or approves (indicate which).  Give examples of goals, quotas, performance standards and other types of planning incumbent recommends or approves (indicate which).  Describe activities which are executed, scheduled, co?ordinated, reviewed, approved, advised on or controlled (indicate which).  Where appropriate, indicate frequency of duties i.e., monthly, quarterly).

 

Business Management Activities:

 

Performed as business Partner to WOC sales team, providing analysis, support and challenge to ensure maximum performance delivery:

 

-   Assist Management in accomplishing Company goals through the provision of timely analysis and quality business advice.

-  Team with China HQ FA and financial operations to ensure consistency, accuracy and timeliness in financial and management accounting, and manage flow of financial information.

-  Support preparation of annual budget and strategic plans for management review, analyze monthly business results and variances versus plans and alert to management with sensible solution for any significant unfavorable variance.

-   Coordinate development and timely submission of P&L, sales comparison, and initiatives.

-   Develop trend analysis and benchmarking to ensure accuracy and reliability of WOC targets and identifying improvement opportunities.

-   Monitor performance of WOC STEPCHANGE cities to ensure revenue and spending meet budget commitment.

-   Work with WOC regional marketing, sales operation, etc., to develop financial modelling on business projects, such as new product launches, pricing change, promotion, etc., to evaluate financial viability, risks and opportunities and sensitivity.

-   Coordinate with each business functions to implement a business review and variance analysis process on a quarterly basis.

-   Implement performance tracking system on individual’s KPI’s, such as forecast accuracy, OPEX projection, A&P management, etc.

-   Partner with sales functions to drive continuous improvement in spending effectiveness and efficiencies.

 

Actively communicates with business partners to ensure compliance of internal and external control standards.

-   Serves as the advisor on accounting guidelines to internal/external customers and frequent internal and external control standards. Actively communicates the guidelines (company policies, procedures and local regulations) and best practices to WOC management team.

-   Train field sales team on forecasting methodology and accounting policy.

-    

Maintains an adequate internal control system to safeguard Company’s assets and ensure data integrity.

 

Processing monthly tax affairs to ensure compliance with local taxation and advise Management on tax-efficient schemes.

 

People Management Activities:

Establish a culture for mutual trust and team building.

Drive value& disciplines through co-operations and influences with sales teams.

 

4.    SCOPE:

Indicate appropriate and representative measures of "job size".  For example, sales volume being generated, handled or serviced; budget being developed and administered; principal brands worked on; specialized measures such as equipment rental costs, volume of purchases, volume of receivables, volume of products distributed, etc.

 

Responsible for the financial planning, reporting and analysis of West Region of Company China (WOC), and ad-hoc National business analysis on project basis.

 

 

5.    REQUIREMENTS:

 

A.        Indicate minimum amount of formal education considered necessary:

University Degree in Economics/Finance/Accounting and/or Member of recognised accounting bodies

 

B.         Describe the nature and length of experience and know-how necessary to meet job problems and challenges.

       

Experience:  

-- 4 years experience with US FMCG MNC or JV with minimum two years supervisory experience in management reporting position.

 

Technical know-how:

-- Financial Management Skills

-- Information gathering and data interpretation skills

-- In-depth knowledge in the accounting, taxation and regulations of China

-- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

-- Good command in English and Chinese

 

Managerial skills:

-- Business Acumen

-- Strong communication and negotiation skills

-- Capable to work in Matrix reporting

-- Good Presentation Skills

 

Interpersonal skills:

-- Willing to work with people from different background and levels

-- Self-motivated, Open to different ideas/perspectives and continuously looking for ways to improve

-- Self- disciplined with high integrity

-- Willing to travel

 

6.    LATITUDE:

 

A.        Describe the type and extent of controls which limit the employee’s freedom to make final decisions or take action, such as existing policies or procedures, maximum dollar approval authority (Please indicate), etc.

Incumbent is encouraged to be proactive in making recommendation except in decision of significance to company when advise from immediate supervision should be sought first.

 

Implementation of recommended business solutions is subject to the approval from Senior Manager, Planning and Analysis and WOC GM.

- Feasibility study of product/Market Launch as needed

- Adjust investment level for particular city/channel as needed

- Escalate significant value opportunity as well as warning signs of profit/returns or misconducts as occurred.

 

 

C.         Indicate frequency and availability or supervision received.

The position is expected to work independently with minimal supervision from immediate supervisors.
